Today we are dedicating a post to our friend and Zoe’s former flat mate Sam Thomas. Sam is a local Sydney illustrator with an obvious fascination for skulls; see more of his work here.

INSPIRATIONAL ARTIST: CHRISTIAN FAUR

Today at ZM925 we are being inspired by the amazing work of American artist Christian Faur. Found via our friends at Lost at E Minor. 

Christian Faur’s work harks back to childhood memories of art making with the humble wax crayon; the very familiar material is used in an exciting and unfamiliar way to explore the complexity and the fate of the pixel within digital photography. Faur’s individually hand cast crayons are used like ‘pixels’ of wax, meticulously arranged within frames, which viewed from a distance form photorealistic images of people and landscapes, and when viewed close up become abstract, the crayon tips creating a 3D effect – the works are an amazing mix between image and sculpture.
